Nail The Score Huskers Versus Buffs
Filed Under Husker Football | 6 Comments
Ok, this is the last regular season game. The season has gone by so fast I just can’t believe it. But here we are with a chance for a win to keep the Buffs from going bowling. They did that to us last year which thankfully led to the firing of He whose name we do not speak
So, the rules are the same except we are upping the ante. The winner this week shall recieve a $50 credit to HuskerShop.com ! So, get your prediction in first by posting it here!

Trap Game?
Filed Under Husker Football | 2 Comments
After last weeks big win against KU I thought this weeks game against K-State was a definite Trap Game for the Huskers. Remember we ran up the score on K-State last year here in Lincoln. Well, this game is at K-State and you know they have not forgotten. Throw into the mix that Ron Prince was forced to resign last week and you start to see the picture of a trap.
The Huskers coming off a big win going to play away at a team we destroyed last year. Josh Feeman has never beat the Huskers and this most likely will be his last chance. And, make no mistake about it, Ron Prince wants this game. Aside from last years shallacking he also has never beat the Huskers. His players will play their hearts out to get Prince this win. Now lets stir the pot some more. Cody Glenn, our star linebacker, gets suspended indefinetely this week. WOW, this is not looking good. This is a trap game for sure!! Talk about emotional highs and los.
What can Coach BO do to change this? Well, how about motivating the Husker Defense as it has not been motivated all season? Coach BO decides in a surprise move that NOW is the time to award the BLACKSHIRTS (say what!) to eleven players (Glenn not being one of them). WOW! What a move and possibly a stroke of genius! I hope this does not back fire on coach. He states that his reasons were that the D played at the level to earn the Blackshirts against KU. Guess we can trust the coach on that one. But there is no doubt he has turned what could have been a trap game into something else!

Man this crow taste good, and I’m happy to eat it.
They finally played to their potential. All three units played well. They beat an above average Kansas team. But do you really think everything is better now? I don’t think so. They’re still the same team that got smoked the week before.
Lucky for you guys they play two more below average teams and even those game aren’t gimme`s. K st. is looking to avenge that spanking from last year, and when was the last time the Huskers beat Colorado in Lincoln?
Oh, I know. The pink shirts were given out and it’s all fixed. You know, if anything like that performance against Kansas had happen back in the day, the pink shirts would have been taken away. On top of that, the best two defensive players aren`t even going to play this week. This looks so much like a trap game. I can only hope.
I say you guys get a taste of your own medicine this week, We all know both offenses will score. It`s just a matter of who`s defense makes enough stops. You know who I`m going with.

I’m not sure if you know, but Nebraska has beat K-State the last 3 years and they beat Colorado in Lincoln last time they played there. So this week looks like another week of you being wrong. GO BIG RED!!!

REVENGE!
Filed Under Husker Football | Leave a Comment
Well, the Huskers found themselves on the bad end of an ass whoopin last week against Oklahoma. Two things from that game are apparent. First, The Sooners are a top echelon college football team. And, two, the Huskers for some reason had their worst start to a game EVER. The first half seemed like something out of the Twilight Zone. I fel no need to rehash what we all saw. I just hope us Husker Fans NEVER see that again.
One statement about Coach BO. He decided after the loss to not have any coaches or players speak to the media. To a great extent I respect that after such a loss. But, Coach Pelini has been falling on his sword all season taking the blame for everything concerning the Huskers shortcomings. Well, in my opinion, it is time for that to stop. He must allow the team to own up to its mistakes. He has taken too much of the blame on his shoulders.
On to KU. Remember this game last year? The Huskers were throttled at Kansas giving up more than 70 points. The Huskers should have that imprinted in their minds all week at practice and on gameday. But, KU is a good football team and has been ranked most of this season. And, the Jayhawks are healthy for the first time since early this year. For KU if they win this game they are in the running for the Big 12 North and probably ranked again in the top 25. For Nebraska, this game is REVENGE for last year and more. A win against KU would be the biggest win this year, a win here makes the Huskers bowl eligible, a win here will propel the Huskers towin all their remaining games. This game is HUGE! And, it is at home for the Big Red.
The Huskers need the complete game they have not had this year. Say what you want about this season, but it is a fact the Huskers have not played their best in any game. Nebraska must reach deep inside their hearts and put everything into this game. The turnover bug for the Huskers can not be present in this game. The offense must click, the defense must hit hard for all 4 quarters and NOT give up big plays. The Huskers are way over due for ball bounces and ref calls to go their way. I think this is THAT game!

Boom The SOONERS?
Filed Under Husker Football | 3 Comments
It is Husker’s versus Sooner’s week. But, it sure has not gotten the play in the mdeia as years past. I suppose a decade of mediocrity will do that for the Huskers. Not to mention that the Big 12 in it’s infinite wisdom killed off the annual game. I remember a time not so long ago where the radio waves and TV stations would have had non stop talk about the game 24 hours a day starting a week ago.
Anyway, do the Huskers have a chance? Again, the odds makers (for the second time this season) have made our beloved Huskers a 3 TD underdog. I think I like that. That should fuel the Huskers to play with an intensity that a total lack of respect can produce. But, it also can be argued that the Sooners are just that good. In particular on offense. No one has stopped the Sooners this year. The Sooners have been able to dictate each game with their offense and have had the ability to choose their form of attack whether it be running or passing. The task to beat them will be formidable…
But, not impossible! Here come the “IF’s”. If Nebraska can control the clock and score TD’s they have a chance. If The Huskers can play without turnovers they have a chance. If the defense can step it up and make play after play, the Huskers have a chance. If the Huskers play their best game of the year, they can win. That is a lot of if’s.
What to expect? I expect The Huskers to play the hardest hitting game they have played all year. I expect that when strategies do not work, adjustments for success will be made. I expect the Huskers to play well and be in the game in the second half and hopefully the 4th quarter.
What do you expect?

This year has been one for the upset. Look at how many #1 ranked teams have gone down. Remember OSU vs USC. How improbable was that? This will be the Huskers best effort to date? It will be just enough.

The Evolution Will Be Televised
Filed Under Husker Football | Leave a Comment
It was great to see an old fashioned Husker win where the Huskers completely dominate the other team. But, make no mistake about it, these are not your father’s Huskers. The Huskers are still evolving. And so far I like what I see. A ball control offense is taking shape, and that bodes well for the remaining games.
Granted, the Huskers have made many mistakes. Both the players and coaches share the blame. But, it does seem the players have bought into the Bo Pelini system. And, it seems apparent that the system is not more important than wins. Bo and company are not trying to push round pegs into square holes. At least not any more. They are going with what works to give the Huskers the best chance to win games. As a Husker Fan I could not ask for more.
The coaches and players seem upbeat and confident and to quote Carl Pelini (I believe) ”A championship atmosphere seems to be developing”. I suppose that will equate to more wins this year. The cool thing is that us Husker Fans get to watch the team reinvent itself. Yes, the evolution will be televised
The Baylor Bears come to Lincoln this weekend. And, their QB is the dual threat type that has always given the Husker fits. I expect the Husker defense to be tested a bit more this week than against Iowa State.
But, the Husker O should roll.
